Suzuki Lessons: Nurtured by Love      Now accepting students ages 3-6, violin and guitar for Fall,2024

These foundational classes are the perfect way to begin your child's music education! The Meet the Instruments class for children ages 3-6 is a fun way to introduce the violin, piano, guitar and singing. Students will learn about each instrument and experience playing each one. With lots of singing, movement and games, your child will fall in love with music!

The Music Workshop is for children ages 5-8. Similar in spirit to Meet the Instruments, it is focused on building a musical foundation for future study through singing, rhythm and pitched instruments. We learn about melody, harmony, beat and rhythm through listening to  and experiencing music. Based in the educational curriculums of Dr. Shinichi Suzuki and Zoltan Kodaly/Edwin Gordon.

These classes are not required for participation in Suzuki lessons but are highly recommended.

In the Suzuki program, you and your child attend classes twice a week: a private and a group class. The private lesson is the heart of the instruction, and group classes build ensemble skills, general musicianship, peer groups, confidence and facility. Each class is thirty minutes long in the beginning. There are also many performing opportunities each term, including a solo recital. A parent attends all classes and helps the child practice at home until they are advanced enough and old enough to practice on their own. They also play reference recordings at home to provide a musical environment that is similar to the language environment your child already enjoys.

Suzuki Lessons are available in violin, piano or guitar. Instruments in general must be purchased by the family, but some are available for rental depending on availability. Keyboards are acceptable for the first years of study as long as they have 88 weighted keys.

Classes are offered weekday afternoons and Saturdays. Please email us at SuzukiAlgarve at gmail.com for scheduling information.
